The year 2022 has been extremely eventful for the children and staff of FOTLTF / LOVE Society in Kutra. Much building has taken place. A second floor has been added to the main building which will give more class rooms and accomodation. The Uli Marwedel Library is complete and waiting to be painted and stocked. It will also house the laptops which I purchased with your donations during my visit in March/April.

This year we have collected over €11.000! Many thanks to all of you for your generous support!  Much of this has been spent on new buildings and educational resources for the children. It is comforting to know that the school is receiving an increasing amount of support from the government. At present, there are 153 children attending the school:

• 51 orphans (no parents, resident at school)

• 21 half-orphans (either mother or father deceased. resident at school)

• 81 day pupils (attend school on daily basis, non-resident)

The government pays Rs 2000,- (€25,00) / resident pupil per month and the teachers receive Rs 6000,- (€75,00) per month.

Having now retired, I was able to spend four weeks in India and more time in Kutra. Unfortunately, my activity was somewhat curtailed by a generous dose of the Calcutta Quickste. Shit happens! My trip was memorable! I have never seen the school in such good condition. The buildings have all been painted and decorated. The garden flourished with an array of vegetables and flowers. It really is something which Fransisca, her staff and the children can be proud of!

I intend to visit India and Kutra from around 20th March to 20th April 2023. If anyone would like to come for some or all of this time, you are more than welcome. Costs are usually €2000 - €2500. I would love to have someone accompanying me and the children and staff at Kutra will make it a trip you‘ll never forget!
